Selenium IDE or Selenium Builder?
I've been building my tests on Selenium IDE and exporting them on Selenium WebDriver these two last months. It's working quite well (btw thank you, this forum has helped me)!
Now I wonder: should I switch from Selenium IDE to Selenium Builder? Does it worth it? Maybe some of you have done this before and have some feedback to give me...
Tanks you in advance,
Hello, since I didn't get a response (that's fine, my question was quite specific!) I'm testing both tools. I'll post my results in this thread. If anyone has some extra info please share it with me.
See you soon,
I'd go with Selenium Builder. It's supported by Sauce Labs and has a much newer architecture and easier to plug into a CI.
However, you eventually want to get good enough to just code in the flavor of selenium without using either tool.
I find record / playback tests highly unreliable. You tend to get a lot of timing issues, especially on single page apps.
Haven't used the IDE for years. IMO Selenium Builder is much better.
I recently did a POC for NodeJS + Selenium and using Selenium Builder was a quick way to gather the CSS selectors that I needed for the script.
