Selenium and Vaadin
Hi, I am new to Selenium IDE and was trying on a simple login page with 2 input boxes, 2 buttons.
I was able to record the actions but during playback , I encountered errors such as "<> does not exist.", where <> is the object name. Our team is using Vaadin framework. I heard about the incompatibility of Selenium with UI developed with Vaadin. Can you please confirm? Also, please help on how to go about this? are there references to help us get started? thank you in advance.
I'm not familair with the Vladin framework. I took a look at the demo site, and it looks like it's one of those Single Page App frameworks.
Since single page apps you don't navigate between pages, Selenium does not know if an action triggered an event or not. So you tend to have to use a lot of wait wrappers when dealing with single page apps. I think Selenium IDE has some wait methods. But I think you'll have better luck with Webdriver. Webdriver will allow you to use a programming language/script like Java or Python that'll give you greater control over how you find and wait for the elements. For my tests that tests Ember (another Single Page App framework) I wrote several smart wait and retry wrappers to deal with elements that appear and disappear.
