Selenium IDE - Unique Checkbox id's
I'm attempting to click on a set of checkboxes that have unique id's. How would I go about doing that?
Scenario: A university student registers for an event. The student adds their parents to their "group". When the student decides to sign up for a seminar they have the option to check who they want to attend. For example if it's a seminar about heart disease and the student wants to buy 2 tickets they would click on the people attending; so their would be 2 checkboxes clicked.
The problem I am running into the id's are unique. Everytime a person registers for the event, everytime someone is added to their group the checkbox value increases.
I would like to say I could just keep a counter, but there are other people testing in this environment so the numbers may not always be in order. I'd like to add a screenshot of the page, but right now I'm receiving errors when I click on the manage attachments button.
Here is an example using firebug of a checkbox. If there were 2 checkboxes then you would see the same code but the value would be different.
<li id="Guest_Template" class="guests_list">
<input id="guest_select_31644" class="attending" type="checkbox" value="31644" name="attending">//*[@id="guest_select_31644"]</input>
Did I mention that I'm new to selenium? I'm a testpartner to selenium person.
Sorry I understood the scenario but no idea how your user interface is,
1. How group members are displayed when you want to select some one
Hint : If members are being displayed in table with checkbox to select, Then find the row containing the person name you want to add, Then from that row find the checkbox to enable it.
The sequence would be like you need to first find the person who you want to add and then select checkbox associated with him and enable it. Hope it helps you.
