Tooltip - how can Qa Wizard Pro retrieve the text?

I have a Client/server application and our error messages appear in the form of a tooltip . Does anyone have a way to retrieve the text from a tooltip using Qa Wizard Pro?
We have a requirement to retrieve and compare the error messages.

I have been unsuccessful at retrieving the text from the object's tooltip using various properties, I'm hoping I've just missed something simple.

Cheers!

If you have the OCR version of QAWP then you should be able to use it to capture the text.

Thank you for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, we don't have the OCR version and the tooltip only appears for about 3 seconds.

So there's probably no way you can capture it with a checkpoint?

CheckPoint, checkexist - do not work. No object is created or detected in the repository for the tooltip.

Re: Tooltip - how can Qa Wizard Pro retrieve the text?

Rich, thank you.
QTP recognizes something is there when the tooltip appears and can make a object or QTP allows the Automation person to create a virtual object. Hence, they are able to retrieve the text and compare. QA Wizard does not allow for virtual objects and doesn't recognize our tooltip . I'm thinking I need the developers to create a dll or something if I truly need to validate the error via automation.

Cheers!

Sorry. I hope you can work it out. If I see anything that might help, I'll keep you in mind.

You might try putting this issue on the Seapine forum at their home site.

Re: Tooltip - how can Qa Wizard Pro retrieve the text?

The response to capturing the tooltip was to use a mouse over with the coordinates. Then capture a screen shot

Unfortunately, this only works in the very rare situation where all data is in the exact same spot.

This is deficient because
1. Our application is still being developed, an unexpected error may occur and we should be able to capture it.
2. Our data is dynamic, depending on which PC and hardware we are monitoring our data will change.
What would be most efficient is to check for the tooltip existence and if it exists for the object to capture it.
