Acquiring memory usage/user of a java web client?

Is it possible to acquire the memory usage on a per user basis (i.e. a user accessing a java-based web client)? In other words, find out how memory is allocated when a user uses a java-based web client. Are there any tools for this? I've done some manual tests, while watching and recording certain processes in Windows Task Manager. This has resulted in inconclusive results.

This information could be helpful on scability analysis of our web client product.

Memory usage on the server or on the client? Both are possible. Please specify what you are looking for and why.

Both would be nice, but for this post, I am specifically looking for the client side.

Since you mention Windows Task Manager, I'm assuming Windows. You want to use perfmon. There will be counters specific to what you are looking for. Doing your own research here will help you tremendously, so I will leave you to it. Good luck.
