A typical SRS template tries to accommodate most potential information sections, but that does not mean you need all that information for every possible project. Some simple projects only use a subset of an SRS, while for very complex projects a much more elaborate version is required with new sections not typically covered in the format.
I suggest you collect several examples and use them as examples rather than as straightjackets that restrict you to one template vs. another. It is not like that at all. Over the years I have collected my own versions of various documents, and from time to time I come across ideas that I think make good additions to my templates. For a given project I may use only 30%-50% of what each template calls for.
