1. ## Requirements stability index

Hi,
Can anyone elaborate on what is meant by Requirements stability index? Is it a formula to determine how stable the requirements are? Or to determine the volatility of requirements?

2. ## Re: Requirements stability index

Dear Pooja,
As a common man understanding I can think it as a Matrix to know how much the requ are freezed?

Very good question as we all ( as a developer / Tester or Project Manager ) face this problem of frequent Changes in requirement.

Regards

3. ## Re: Requirements stability index

being an index it cna do both. In agile development we can use these to track and find patterns in the rate of change.
If the index shows stability then we know they are not volatile at that point in time. The track of the index over time shows if we have a historic pattern to volatility and to some extent we can use those patterns to predict future behaviour. This falls down a bit with significant changes in context though.

4. ## Re: Requirements stability index

Based on this you could also calculate the rework. Knowing when were changed different requirements, what work was done until the change, the work needed to implement the change,...

5. ## Re: Requirements stability index

This might be a likely definition :

Requirement stability Index (RSI) = (N - |C|)/N

Where N = Number of requirements identified and approved for the project.
C = Number of suggested changes in requirement because of issues at any time in the project's phase.

6. ## Re: Requirements stability index

(Total number of Original Requirements + Cumulative number of requirements changed (till date) + Cumulative number of requirements added (till date) + Cumulative number of requirements deleted (till date)) / (Total number of Original Requirements)

7. ## Re: Requirements stability index

Hi,

Please suggest which of the below formula is correct one, Requirement Stability Index

Requirements Stability Index = Total no of Requirements received at initial stage / No of requirements received initially+additions+deletions+modifications

Total number of Original Requirements + Cumulative number of requirements changed (till date) + Cumulative number of requirements added (till date) + Cumulative number of requirements deleted (till date)) / (Total number of Original Requirements)

Hi,

Requirement stability is a kind of metric, which helps in indicating the no.of changes in requirements, and completeness[ some of them are incomplete] of it.

I am not sure of the formula, but this stability is indicated through line graghs or trend charts.

You can see here -
Requirements stability
