Hi, I would like to know who would be in charge of a Test Plan in an organization where there is a Team lead and a Manager. Testers are to report to team leads, so should be in charge of prepairing and maintaining a Test Plan? and feedback is appreciated. Also if anyone knows where I can get a paper copy of there findings as to the role of a tester and team lead.
I've seen test plans maintained by either. It really depends on your organization. If the manager is running multiple teams on different applications, then it is appropriate for the team lead to maintain the test plan. But on the other hand, test plans can be generic enough to be templated at the organization level (manager maintains template) and project specifics are maintained by the lead.
All depends on how you want to do business. There is no wrong way to do it, other than not doing it at all. You decide how to maintain the docs and then do it that way and it will work for you.
The role of Team lead and tester will depend on the company you work for, tester is fairly standard however Team lead roles can vary. Your company/manager should have these defined at least in HR, ask your manager or go to HR and you should have the definitions for your company.
