Curious as to how many users use the Ranorex repository and what led to your decision.
Personally I do not use the repository. My reason is I "grew up" using automation tools that did not have a repository so I have written my own code to find and interact with objects at run time. For example instead of looking in the repository for the xPath to a pushbutton, I have a framework method that specifically finds any given pushbutton based on certain criteria (such as form name and pushbutton name) during each run of my automation code.
The pro to me for doing it this way is I do not have to create and maintain a repository for each project or AUT.
What are your ways of doing things?
If this or any response has helped you, please reply to the thread stating that it worked so other people with a similar issue will know how you fixed your issue!
First, why do you want to move away from the repository?
Second, to find the element xPath identification you can use Ranorex Spy to give you the full path. If you already have the form object that it lives on you can search the form for any other object (button, textbox, etc...) with code similar to this:
