Does webload support https && ldap

    Hi all,

I just got the version 8.0 webload, and i found it so cool; actually i want to test a web application with protocol https, and the login system is via LDAP. So when we enter the web site at beginning, there will be a popup window come up waiting user to enter the user name and the password.

I think the problem is probably here, webload can not record this step and this popup window, so when the script is replayed, it can't enter into the web site without certification, by consequence, there are the errors for all the pages with the messages "404 page not found, requested URL:...". So who knows how to overcome this problem? please help me!!!!

    thanks and regards,

    Yinan

Re: Does webload support https && ldap

A 404 error means that an http request was not successful due to the inability to find the page or item requested. This is a standard http error. When receiving these errors in the WebLOAD log window, read the entire URL that the 404 error is reporting as “not found”. Often times the 404 is for an image file that is not found at that location on the server. If an image is not found, this does not mean that the request for the page failed. WebLOAD will retrieve the rest of the page even if an individual component like an image was not found.

This should lead you to check the coding in your applications html pages to be sure the correct path and name for the image is in the page without any typing errors. Also check the path in the server to ensure that the image exists and has permissions to be retrieved from a browser. You may also try to retrieve the URL to the image in your browser outside of WebLOAD. If the browser is unable to find the image then WebLOAD will also not find the image, and the application side should be investigated.

If the 404 error is for an entire page, try retrieving the page through your browser to ensure the application is responsive at this time. If you are able to get to the page through your browser, check the agenda to see if there is some dynamic content that is not being accounted for, like a hard coded session ID for example. You may need to parse for certain values from previous pages to pass along with subsequent requests in place of hard coded values. See the Agenda Center examples for “Parsing for Dynamic Session IDs” at http://www.radview.com/support/AgCtr..._SessionID.asp and “Parsing using Regular Expressions” at http://www.radview.com/support/AgCtr...CE_RegExp.asp.

Re: Does webload support https && ldap

thanks a lot, jeungkim, you are so great.

You are right that i have the problem because of missing the images in the page of the application. I was not aware about this at testing, i thought this a problem very serious.

and I want to know with this problem, i mean keep missing these images in the page html, does it has any bad influence to get the performance informations from the web server, and to perform load test for the server? And among the messages of "404, not found", there is also an error message " open connection failed ", why is there this problem, but at the bottom of log view, it mentioned "Test passed", does that means the test is ok ?

    thanks and regards,

    Yinan

Re: Does webload support https && ldap

For most of WebLOAD’s error messages, the severity can be changed in the “frm” files located in the “frm” directory of the WebLOAD installation. All WebLOAD specific errors are listed in a series of files with the extension “.frm”. These files can be modified in any text editor. A single letter at the beginning of each entry indicates the severity of each message. Below are the possible letter codes and their meanings.

e error Stops execution of the current round and restarts the agenda for that virtual client
f failure Stops the execution of the entire load session
w warning Displays a warning message and continues execution
    n none No action taken

As an example, if you are receiving a 404 on an image file, and 404 is set to ‘e’ in the httpResponse.frm file, this error would stop the execution of the current round and restart the virtual client at the beginning of the agenda. If you want to be informed that the image file is not found, but you want the virtual client to continue executing the current round, you could edit the appropriate frm file to reflect a severity of ‘w’ for 404 messages instead of ‘e’.

    Also you can check this

Host machines participating in the Load Session are not physically connected to the Network. If you are experiencing issues with TestTalk the first step is to ensure that you are able to PING the load generator(s) from the Console Machine by both IP address and machine name and vice versa. For more information on this please see "Testing Your Connection" and "Pinging a Host" in Chapter 2 - WebLOAD Installation and Configuration in the WebLOAD User's Guide.

    2. The TestTalk Network Agent is not up and running successfully on all hosts. Check the hosts physically to verify TestTalk is running on the machines that are unable to communicate.

    3. The ports that TestTalk is utilizing are not open. The TestTalk agent communicates over ports 9000 & 9010 by default. If any other application is using these Ports TestTalk will not be able to start unless you do one of the following:
    — Disable the other application that is utilizing these ports.
    — Change the default port being used by either TestTalk or the other application utilizing the same port.

    4. The ports TestTalk uses are not open on a firewall that is between the WebLOAD Console and any participating Load Generator. For more information on working with a firewall with WebLOAD, please refer to the "Working with a Firewall" section of Chapter 2 - WebLOAD Installationand Configuration in the WebLOAD User's Guide.

    5. When selecting hosts to participate in the test session the IP address or Machine Name is not being recognized. It could be a simple matter of a mistyped key or misspelling. Verify that the machine name or IP was entered correctly. If you right click on the TestTalk icon and select Net configuration you will see a dialog box listing the computer name and IP address of the box that is hosting TestTalk. Ensure that this is identifying the correct machine and that it is the one you entered as a host. In rare cases a domain name is required before the machine name when identifying the hosts participating in the test session;
