Re: Agile Process or Methodologies

Website that has lots of info about Agile:
http://www.agilealliance.org/

Agile is not a single process, but more of a philosophy. There are Agile processes that exist which are based on the Agile manifesto. Probably the two most popular being eXtreme Programming (XP) and Scrum.

Use google or the website i provided to get more info about these. If you seriously want to begin using Agile methods then i would strongly suggest you learn about them before moving ahead. How do you even know if Agile is a good idea for your project if you don't even know what it is?

There are also Methodology and Software Process Improvement forums here which contain threads on these kinds of questions.

Agile Sucks! Management usually doesn't understand the implications so they downsize too early in the process. Oh, Do I sound hostile? Well I am!

Rich - you are too old and slow for agile. It is just another silver bullet that requires speed on your part to create distance between itself and you. The real meaning behind the term...

1. Must be able to run away from the failures with speed and agility.
2. Must be able to offer up excuses why yet another silver bullet failed to hit the mark:
2.1 "We ended up doing waterfall."
2.2 "The client didn't understand what we were trying to do."

Well at least it doesn't require the big cash outlay that you get with 6 Sigma.
