My requirement is that I want to find the cost of a bug captured at different levels. For example, if a bug is caught at testing level, its fixing cost is X, and if same is caught at UAT/production, its cost is 100X. Basically, I am looking for a matrix of the same.
I don't think there is such a matrix 'of the shelf'. But I know Barry Boehm has written lots about the costs of bugs found during the lifecycle.
Just search here, on stickyminds.com or the internet for articles written by him!
There is no matrix of this because it's too dependent on various things. I think Boehm came up with general guidelines but not a matrix. Basically just factor in the time and effort it would cost to distribute a fix to your user base after the product is released. (A lot of times these days with online distribution, that's not really a big cost. But there is the user perception thing to consider.)
