These days, I'm in a training programm which include Six Sigma, and I've discovered some new things:
- Six Sigma is a quality standard and an aproach for quality.
- Six Sigma "methods" are used by some companies which doesn't completely adhere to Six Sigma. So you, could use Six Sigma "methods" without using the standards.
- Six Sigma could be use in the same time with CMM. These two are not mutually exclusive.
If you use CMM for your process, and Six Sigma as a measure of product quality, a company could have a CMM level of 5, but the quality of the products could be at the level of 3 Sigma. Of course, the opposite situation could be true.
... Not even me.
