I am new to this site.
I need to find out how to do QA on software that is ISO 9001 certified. I do not know ISO but I do know CMM. I know in order to make sure an application is in compliance with CMM you have to have many documents signed off.
Test plan, verification…Is it the same using ISO 9001? If you have to do QA using ISO 9001 what do you have to do to make sure you are in compliance? Are there forms to fill out?
To be in compliance with the Process you need to have/follow these:-
#1 You needs to have V&V(Verification & Validation) Plan
#2 you need to have a Bug tracking tool (internal or
#3 you should have a test plan/strategy doc
#4 Peer Review documents/records of all the test cases reviewed
#5 weekly test status reports
#6 test summary reports
#7 Developer Release Notes - provided by devleoper to tester
#8 Release Notes
#9 No. Test Cases vis-ŕ-vis function points
#10 effort required to repare Test plan
[ QUOTE ] Tinkah: have i missed out anything else?
[/ QUOTE ]Yes. The extent of the ISO implementation and version of ISO-9001 determines what the ISO-certified organization requires. Therefore your list in many ways might be irrelevant to any specific organization. That is not to say one should not engage in what you listed. One should indeed require what you listed in varying degrees. One needs neither ISO nor CMM to do just that.

Please define precisely what you mean by "QA" as the opinions and solutions will vary. Also, I was not aware that software itself could be ISO-certified. Please enlighten the audience here.
[ QUOTE ] Goldyhello: Test plan, verification…Is it the same using ISO 9001?
[/ QUOTE ] Test plans etc. are independent of ISO or CMM. One does not need ISO or CMM to plan, produce test-related deliverables, or conduct testing. Software and system testing occurred long before ISO or CMM existed. <it appears you are referring to testing versus QA.>
[ QUOTE ] Goldyhello: If you have to do QA using ISO 9001 what do you have to do to make sure you are in compliance?
[/ QUOTE ] Again, please define "QA". It sounds like you are talking more about testing than you are about "QA". ISO and CMM are more about QA (et al other disciplines) than they are testing. Compliance? You do what your organization requires to maintain its ISO certification. Therefore your questions must be redirected to your organization.
[ QUOTE ] Goldyhello: Are there forms to fill out?
[/ QUOTE ] Probably. Again, redirect your questions to your organization.
