I'm new to FPA (Function point analysis) and have some questions:
1. Is there any software tools that can be purchased to calculate function points for a project that have completed? (note: not to estimate fp for a new project)
2. If no tool to assist, and i need to count FP manually. Do i need through knowledge for the particular product? there're around 100 products to audit...
You get what you paid
I don't envy you having to count the function points of 100 products. That's a major undertaking.
The use of function points is a controversial sizing method.
Even if you use a tool, you need to get familiar with the application, here is a tool example http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/CIS/c...y/FP_Calc.html
You can order the Function Point Counting Practices Manual here for example http://www.ifpug.org/publications/manual.htm
Google Function Points and you will get all sorts of results.
