Identifying milestones to help with defect leakage
This is my first post here, so feel free to move it if I'm in the wrong forum.
I am a QA engineer, and the task at hand is to list our milestones so we can know what phase we're officially in. The reason we need to know what phase we're in is so we can properly identify what phase we found a defect in. Ultimately, we'll be doing defect leakage with this information.
For some background, here is our lifecycle phases:
Requirements, Design, Coding, Unit testing, Formal testing
Since there is always some overlap, our problem is how to define what phase we're in. Here are our common milestones: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR
When do you formally say which phase you're in?
