# Thread: Online Math resources for USA Students

1. ## Online Math resources for USA Students

Excerpts from Modern Math and other problems for students in the USA:

1. If Johnny wishes to rob a 7-11 joint, what are the hours in which he can do this?

2. B.R.'s meth lab can kick out 10 pounds a day. How many pounds can he kick out a year assuming he has 13 paid holidays?

3. Att'y Joey Haulindough gets a lump sum under-the-table US\$25K bonus for each successful plea bargain. How many plea bargains must he complete in a year to afford this?

4. Timothy Bleary's mind can multi-task hallucinations. If Mr. Bleary can process 10 concurrent hallucinations and each last for 3 minutes; how many hallucinations per hour can Timmy boy experience?

5. Shawn Shears has 50 lambs. He can sell these in Japan at US\$1,650.00 per head. How much money will Shawn take in if he sells all 50 head of poodle and the buyer takes care of all tariffs and shipping/handling fees?

6. Janie is a 17-year old teen on a family cellular share plan. She "shares" with her parents. The plan allows 1,500 minutes per month. How many minutes per month constitute Janie's share? How many minutes per month will Janie actually use?

7. Robin Z. Bancks, 3rd can average US\$988.00 per bank hit on a small town bank. Robin can average US\$3K per hit on a chain bank. Robin averages one small town hit per month. How many chain bank hits will Robin need to average to support his \$65K per month drug addiction?

8. Frankie is a 9th grader with six school courses. Frankie's courses each suffer a letter-grade hit for each hour per day Frankie spends on his X-Box. Frankie spends 10 hours per day with his X-Box. Will Frankie move on to 10th grade? Extra credit: Frankie is gaining 1.3 pounds of weight per day and currently weighs 230 pounds. How many days until Frankie will exceed the load capacity of his Jeep Wrangler, and have to trade it in for one of these?

9. Frankie is one of 10 children. 8 are younger than he. The older one (a brother) is a high-school senior. In his junior year, Mom sued the school district and won. She sued because of the extreme suffering this now-senior went through after a high-school counselor asked him to study at least 2 hours per day. In civil court Mom was awarded US\$125,000. If she sues for each child that makes it to his/her junior year, how much will Mom rake in annually without any cost-of-living adjustments assuming each of the children are separated in age by a year.?

10. Dee Dastardeed can make US\$2,700.00 per 10/20 home mortgage loan with the 10-year interest only loan. She realizes the odds are not good (1:11) that the "buyer" can get a mortgage for the 20-year portion at the end of the 10-year period because the value of a \$400K home will be \$600K in ten years and that the "buyer" will not qualify. When Dee sells a 10/20 on the same home 10 years hence she will reap \$3,600.00! How many 10/20s will Dee need to sell in order to have an income of \$1,440,000.00 in ten years?

(I saved my son from such an "adventure". The agent's initial kindness upon meeting her quickly turned to venom after I asked the tough questions. Her firm is now under investigation.)
