As the subject title says it all. I was just watching a show on the History Channel here in the U.S. called "How William Shatner Changed The World", and covered how Star Trek influenced people and some of their inventions.
One of the things that hit me square between the eyes was the Cell Phone. The guy from Motorola (forgot his name already) who invented the Cell Phone said he was inspired by the Communicator device on Star Trek (back in 1969). This among other things that we now use in our everyday lives.
I have to admit that Star Trek got me interested in Computers and Science. Anyway... it is a funny as frack show. Shatner hams it up with his usual aplomb. If you get a chance to see it do, worth the two hours of fun.
