Considering more than half you geeks are sci-fi fans I'm not surprised there hasn't been a post about the new Harry Potty book. But I just wanna know if anyone's read the book yet. Just read an article about the pathos in the new book. Looks like JKR decided to go down the Revenge of the Sith route and deprive the kids of clean fun. Not that I personally mind though.
I could spoil the "who gets killed" (and who did it) mystery. My wife read it as soon as it came out and then blabbed it to me last night.
Guess I better read the books. And from what I understand is that it is a darker story line and that the next book (speculation) will be very dark and Harry may have to make a choice between revenge (and its consequences) or not (become a martyr). This is no longer a 'kiddies' story (like Star Wars was never to be that, and finally got it right with Sith).
See... I like to read the books starting with the last chapter 1st! I actually knew the entire ROTS plot even before Lucas thought it out! I knew many deep dark secrets that only a Jedi would see in a vision
But I could not believe that the half blooded prince was.....
Common I love to ruin endings WHOAHAHAHA (evil laugh)
I guess that, like everything else, children's literature is pushing the envelope. I'm not sure that in this "day and age" it's any darker than things like The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe were in mine.
I remember reading that Stephen King said the scariest film he's ever seen was Bambi and Vincent Price's was Snow White.
Anyway, with the amount of cotton wool they're wrapping our kids in nowadays, maybe a bit of edgy reading's good for them.
