It's a problem with Mozilla Firefox. When I view posts in IE the date is shown fine.
In fact if I go to Update Profile, Time Adjustment, it says:
"The current server time is:" (blank)
And similarily for "Your computer time is:"
Curiously it does say: "For local times, adjust to: 9 hours"
So I set "Time Adjustment" to 9 hours.
I can't reproduce my remark about very old posts being dated. Maybe I was mistaken.
If you run this page through the www.w3.org HTML validator you get a lot of errors. The lack of a doctype declaration will result in IE running in "quirks" mode instead of following the HTML standards, plus all browsers will either have to do some "guessing" on how to handle the erroneously marked up sections or just ignore them; thus there is no guarantee any two browsers will handle those parts identically.
But I have just deleted all my qaforums cookies by hand in Firefox (through the Tool / Options) dialog. (Perhaps the the FAQ link 'delete cookies' doesn't work for Firefox? I did that several times with no effect.)
** And now I can see the posted dates! **
So maybe setting the "Time Adjustment" to 9 hours (in Profile) fixed this, but not until all the cookies were deleted (by hand). I have a feeling (from other problems) that the cookies handling in Firefox is a little funny.
I am going by feel here though, this isn't thorough testing But I need to get back to my real testing job!
