Went for this job interview yesterday, was asked to explain RAD.Explained RAD model as build a little and test little and also added that RAD is a series of small Vs .The interviewer disagree on this point, she said with RAD testing come last.I didn't get the job because of this.
Please need your help here folks, will like to have different points on rapid application development
The key tactical element in RAD development is iterative prototyping of the full system. The development team concentrates on delivering a series of fully functional prototypes to designated user experts/testers. Each prototype is tested by those users/testers, critiqued, and returned as soon as possibleógenerally within a short time period to the development team for reworking, at which point the cycle repeats. The series of prototypes evolves quickly into a version which is fully acceptable to the users/testers, and this version is implemented as the first production release of the system.
Based on your answer I'd say your interviewer should go do a little research.
Life should NOT be a trip to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an cool and well preserved body, but rather to skid in, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body wrecked, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!
One definition (from Testing Object-Oriented Systems by Robert Binder, "Glossary", pg. 1104):
rapid application development (RAD). A short-cycle approach to the development of data processing applications. It has several elements: (1) joint application development sessions to elicit requirements, (2) prototyping conducted by experienced developers for early validation, (3) emphasis on model-based code generation beginning with an upper CASE tool, and (4) some form of a timebox project plan.
