Google - Removing a hit
I have a friend that used to have a business. He/She recently googled their own name and saw that someone wrote a horrible and untrue review of their defunct business. It is not on this Forum.
The blog is about 8 years old. My friend would like to know how to stop having Google show the unflattering review.
How do I get Google to not show this as the first item on a search?
Do I need to make websites with the search information and hope that Google finds them?
I can use some knowledge here.
You just need to get more reviews that would bury that result. There are entire companies and job positions out there built around the art/science of Search Engine Optimization on how to get your results up in the Google results. But Google is constantly fighting this gaming of the system themselves by changing their algorithm up.
If it is factually incorrect(slander/libel) there would be legal options for them.

There are also many reputation protection services out there. (Nothing is free though)
I didn't realize how this works. I went on to the site that "Google Bombed" my friend and wrote short sentences with my friends name receptively. Others on the site realized my mistake and started writing my friend's name on follow on threads. I guess I made it worse.
I needed to go onto other sites to have Google see it someplace else and then move it down the list.
Does anyone have any ideas of places where I can write dummy posts? It is really not fair to other sites if I make dummy accounts and then post something having nothing to do with their interests. I guess people must be going on to accounting forums, magic, music, cooking and just writing anything with their name attached. Is this going on inside the web?
Has it occurred on our forum?
Yes, they are called spammers and often get banned for such behavior... You would have to post on some relevant sites with relevant info.
Just check out the General forum today before the mods get to cleaning it up. Which by the way we're still needing a report improper post functionality that was lost with the forum move.

If you are still looking for someone to help you with search engine optimization, I have a friend who can do that. He did it for my website Home - QA Software Testing with 100% money back guarantee and it became #1 in Google in 30 days. Let me know if you want his contact information.
