The Long Walk. A book by Stephen King written under the name of Richard Bachman in 1979. 100 young boys start on a walk through Maine and beyond. If they fall below 4 miles per hour they are given 3 warnings and then shot in the head. Only one boy will finish the walk after all the rest are dead. It usually lasts for a bit over 300 miles.
