Do you think the car is SO revolutionary that no one else could come up with a similar design - even without the open source thing? Hydrogen-fueled cars exist now. But the issues are a lot more complicated than just the technology itself. And if the lease is 20 years (and assuming the car lasted that long, which I would seriously doubt) then you'd be paying over $75,000 for the thing.
I am skeptical that this will do anything more than make a few people feel that they have "done the right thing" (whatever that might be).
