Ok, I was thinking of this for another post related to Off the shelf software in General, but I figured it would be a little off-topic, so decided to put it here. I figured we could use this as a thread to our Christmas Geekdom.
Public Service Announcement:
Hi, I'm actress Sally Struthers. Every year, billions of copies of software are purchased, but it's not always a happy life. Almost 50% of this software won't even make it through the year. 70% will be abused or neglected. The saddest, though, is that over 30% will be abandoned for newer, more flexible custom software.
30%! Can you look at this face and tell it that it will never see the inside of a hard drive again? Can you look at this face and tell it you don't care? I'm begging you. We're begging you. Please, don't let Commercial Off-The-Shelf software go hungry this Christmas. Buy CoTS at your local software retailer and you will be helping to save a life. Maybe one just like little QuickBooks here.
9 out of 10 people I prove wrong agree that I'm right. The other person is my wife.
