    More Fun Work Speak!

Sometimes I find some nice laughs in the BeeB.

50 Office speak phrases you love to hate

I didn't even know some of these existed.

Not a single mention of "team synergy"

Never heard such, must be a Marrickville thing ! It is a dodgy suburb.

    Re: More Fun Work Speak!

    This one always annoys me:

"41. "Working for an American corporation, this year's favourite word seems to be granularity, meaning detail. As in 'down to that level of granularity'."
    Chris Daniel, Anaco, Venezuela "

Often management meetings refuse to address issues because they don't understand them and to cop out they say its a very granular issue. This either means they are work shy or stupid if you ask me. Often its a very technical issue that causes grief to a project.

    Re: More Fun Work Speak!

Granularity is a useful concept in analysis. As in, "these requirements need to be more granular before we can develop test cases."

There is definitely a time and a place to declare a conversation too granular: in the early stages of a project when you're outlining use cases you might say that assigning data types to fields is too granular when all you're doing is scoping out the work.

    Re: More Fun Work Speak!

I am assuming you are speaking seriously, Clint? What is the matter with "these requirements need to be more detailed before we can develop test cases." ??

Granularity has a specific mathematical meaning. To use it as a sysnonym for "level of detail" in general usage is exactly the kind of thing this thread is poking fun at.

Obviously the WorkSpeak gods have an acolyte in you!
