I'm always on the lookout for a better text editor, use them every day. For the last few years I've been using ConTEXT and love it. http://www.contexteditor.org/
Hive Five Call For Contenders: Best Text Editor?
"You don't have to be a programmer to appreciate the joys of plain text, and there's no better way to wrangle your text files than a solid text editor. Plain text files are appealing because they're searchable, lightweight, portable, and truly platform agnostic; plain text just makes life easier." http://lifehacker.com/385440/best-text-editor
Well not free, but I got turned onto this one by one of our Java developers. I began to like it because I utilize multiple languages for my test scripts and its nice to have one editor that I can work with. Rather than use TextPad for one thing, Eclipse for another, Visual Studio...ad infinitum. The ability of it to find my Perl modules across multiple directories has already made me a believer.
