Latest report (not in the news stories linked) is that the car that went through my fence was going over 100 mph (160 k/h) when the collision occurred. The car continued 100 meters or more after the collision to end up in my fence. If it weren't for the trees just inside the fence, the car may have made it into my house or a neighbor's house.
The collision occurred just over the top of a hill. Alcohol or not, there's no way to react in time coming over that hill at over 100 mph.
