No resurection of the sacred beer post on a Friday....... what is this forum coming to?
In deference to the holy beer post, I will imbibe more than my usual Saturday Night Six-Pack whilst watching the UK sky light-up with millions of pounds worth of firecrackers, to celebrate someone who was burnt at the stake for trying to bring down the government.

burnt at the stake for trying to bring down the government

For the sake of our readers who are not familiar with the Guy Fawkes story, the term "bring down the government" was not a figure of speech. Fawkes was caught trying to BLOW UP the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder.
In case anyone is interested (NOT!) did you know that the Church of England about 200 years ago, actually had a specific form of prayer to be used on November 5th "For the happy Deliverance of King JAMES I. and the Three Estates of ENGLAND, from the most traiterous and bloody-intended Massacre by Gunpowder ..." (quoted verbatin from a prayerbook I have, dated 1808)
