WinRunner - but rather off-topic

This is for you WinRunner weenies, but I didn't feel it belonged in the WR forum.

This gives you some idea about the misinformation out there. It's from the Yahoo WR group. The first item is the question, the rest are the responses:

plz tell me the diff. b/w set_window and win_activate in detail...

==========================================

Win_activate: Will activate the window physcially if the window and its
properties are loaded logically.

Set_window : Here the window will get highlited if the window is loaded and
the focus is on any other window.

-------------------------------------------

set_window to focuss the window and win_active for to focuss on text
message

-------------------------------------------

set_window Is going to connect link between GUI Map Editor,Script pad And
Window (AUT) , you can have controle of objuct under Window

but win_activate is just activate window not having link between GUI and
Script pad, u can't have controle of objuct under window

-------------------------------------------

set_window is to set the Focus on particular window,win_activate is to activate
the windows UI for use.

-------------------------------------------

Set_Window : It makes the winrunner to go logically into the Windows Context
means Its .gui file Context (goes to that particular window context of the
Map editor file ). It doesn't highlight or Focus to the Phisical Window

Win_activate : Its for Highlighting/Focus that window Physically.

Just goes to show you that finding out for yourself isn't always easy, but it's usually more accurate....

"weenies" - what is this? You should call your parents today and thank them for raising you to be such a nice guy. Just kidding...all in fun I know.

While they asked for the answer in detail, I'm still shocked they didn't need the result immediately!

SteveC - I'm using the term with the highest possible level of regard. Sort of like "specialists." I know that's stretching a point, but you get the idea

P.S. I'm a reformed WinRunner weenie myself - never touch the stuff these days, but I lurk --- sort-of like standing outside a bar and looking through the windows (if you can find one that HAS any windows).

[Help! I'm writing and I cant shut up!]

Ah, so it's in a different context from, say, calling someone "King Weenie of NoWheresVille"?

I get it now... Like calling someone a WR geek...not all bad.
