    ignore repeated questions?

I was contemplating the state of the universe this morning, and a thought occurred to me regarding the oft repeated phrase around here - "Did you do a search?"

I thought of a solution. Instead of answering the offender with that phrase, how about we just ignore the question? But then, I figure that some other newbie will go ahead and answer, and the two of them will run off happy into the sunset, having no clue that the blind is leading the deaf. We would probably end up with two communities here - one of the core folks "in the know", and a body of folks who think they know what is going on and keep passing down urban testing legends.

Maybe we just lock the thread on a question that has been repeated some arbitrarily high number of times, like 87?

    Re: ignore repeated questions?

I'd recommend we take the following steps:
    1) Tell them to search
    2) Lock the thread
    3) After some period of time (few days or a week maybe) delete the thread. This way, future searches won't give lots of pages that only state "search the forums."

Naw, Mark. They wouldn't taste good unless you had lots of ketchup.

    Darrel,

I think you are onto something. Why ruin a good batch of ketchup with fried b*st*rds.
