Re: Developers - is this really what it feels like?
I once went to one Oracle Developers Conference (more years ago than I care to think about) the year that Java and the Network Computer were launched, and Larry Ellison and Scott McNealy planned to push Big M off the face of the planet. Larry stood on the stage, with 3 or 4 PCs (NCs?) on plinths, and a video screen behind him. Scott was sitting on the front row. Behind him were, I'd guess, 600-1000 developers and such.
As Larry pressed the keys to demonstrate the "wow" factors, he was promptly bluescreened - visible on the huge projection screen.
Techs rushed onto the stage to fix the problem and the demo continued smoothly. But I'll bet some heads rolled for that.
