Any Excel chart wizards here? ...

I'm certainly no expert on the topic, but I am a little embarrassed to be asking for help with this. I would like to create some kind of bar chart with the following data showing which weeks in the month each system will be tested. As you can see some of them overlap, which I think is causing the problem. When I use the chart wizard I either get blank charts or nonsensical results.

    Any tips or ideas?

    Thanks very much in advance!

Are you sure a bar chart is what you want? You might have what you want right now. A spreadsheet seems like the best format for this.

If you were trying to show how much of a particular week of the month a set of tests would take the execute, then there might be some data to chart. With this one, though, I don't know if there is.

I don't see why you want a bar chart for this, unless you are trying to show blocks of time that a system is taken, in which case what you have may be better than a bar chart.

    Hi,

If you want to display graphically what will be tested during the n next weeks, I think that a Gantt graph can be more useful that a bar chart.

    Keep your excel spreadsheet.
Use Visio gantt graph and import your data from Excel.

    Hope it helps,

    Robin

    Use the Chart Wizard...

    1) Insert > Chart
    2) Select "Bar" from "Chart Type"
    3) click "Next>"
    4) Drag-select ALL of the rows/columns you want (including column headers)
    5) (optionally) select "Rows"
    6) Click "Finish"

There are a ton of other options, but this will get you a bar chart using the data above.

uggg I hate Gantt Charts and I'd avoid using Project just for this, its a waste of your time for this small task.
