Thereís a new payslip system, they donít mail out our payslip anymore, you can log onto the system to see it if you need, nevermind that the rest of the world has been doin that for years, I like that the mail subject is: NEWS ON CHANGES TO YOUR ******* PAYSLIP Ė WE ARE GOING GREEN
It gives you the usual logging on details and then suggests you print out the payslip.
Will this negatively impact the recycling businesses such that:
1) there are layoffs in this industry,
2) the barely surviving recycling businesses will go under, and
3) that the impact will generate a spike in the use of paper and ink cartridges as former recycling business employees create, print, and mail resumes'?
We have a similar system for paystubs and I still marvel at how much paper our "paperless society" uses as each payday I hear the printer going almost constantly as people print their paystub and a banner page!
So we've moved from one piece of paper sealed on the edges to two full size pages - yep "saving a lot of trees" there.
I've been on this for a year, an honestly I don't really miss it much, its less for me to file and if I want to keep track of all the charges on my paycheck I can look it up pretty easily from home and download it. Or I can make sure the amounts getting deposited in my bank are the same every month...so far I haven't missed anything.
Nothing learns better than experience.

I'm with you michael - I only print the one needed at the end of the year for my tax documentation folder. All others are saved as electronic copies. I happen to have the cubicle nearest the print room and I find it funny how much busier the printer is on Thursdays (our payday).
