can anyone recommend a good performance test tool for Web Applications that is low budget?
I've found a few but they don't provide database stress results which is a key requirement. For example,
Set up a test for 250 users
Each user accesses the AccountSearch function
Have setup a pre-defined number of Accounts (index), ie. 100,000 of which 800 are SMITHs, 2000 are JONES's
Define what each User will input, i.e. 50 input SMITH, 200 input JONES
Return the results of not only the url return time, but how the database performs under controlled conditions.
Sorry if this is a bad example but hopefully you can see what i'm getting at.
1) Why do you post it in functional testing forum. Don't you know there is a forum dedicated to performance testing ?
2) If you are only interested in DB resource utilization (CPU, memory) - any perf. tool I know of are able to monitor processes. Or you could use perfmon in windows (monitoring the database process(es)) only.
If however you need database time by each business transaction you may find this useful http://www.testingreflections.com/node/view/3837
