Calculating Throughput for WebRequest
I am developing a Load Testing Tool using CSharp.
I am using HttpWebRequest Package for web page request. To
Collect BytesSent and BytesReceived for each requested
web page I am using httpwebrequest.contentLength for
BytesSent and httpwebresponse.contentLength for
BytesReceived. Am i right or i have to consider the
Header Length also. If so how can i get that.
Re: Calculating Throughput for WebRequest
well what do you mean by "throughput"?
are you trying to get an idea of network utilization (bytes sent/received)? If so, counting content length at the HTTP level will be inaccurate. There is protocol overhead at layers 2-4 (Ethernet Frames, IP Packets, TCP Segments, etc). Each of these layers introduce overhead that would not be visible by just looking at content lengths of HTTP requests.
