Re: Load Testing and Load Balancing..Blog Project?
I'll try to help, but there are a lot of missing information, I'll try to guess:
All users work with web browsers. First two layers described by arch. are client side, the last 2 - server side. Web services Layer have HTML over HTTP protocol to communicate with client- web browser. If there is anything more complex the picture is even worse.
Testing that is requested - to test server side for load (multiple simultaneous requests). Any load tool will do this at protocol level, ignoring UI part. LoadRunner VUser is capable to transfer the protocol into web pages given it is HTML that will help you to understand if your test script is correct. Iím afraid however that without understanding of information transferred on protocol level (html structures) you will not be able to create tests scripts properly.
I would suggest you actually to say your team lead that in order to do this testing you actually need not only to know overall architecture, but details of web page structures, learn html (if you donít know it yet).
Alternatively I would suggest that you as functional tester write the user scenarios to be tested, but developers create scripts that accord to those scenarios. You could probably then run the tests. Scripting is closer to development and if you donít have development background it will be too hard to you. This way they could save a lot of money and stay with Open STA. Maybe they could even write their tests at .NET level. Meanwhile I suggest you reading some performance testing book or articles.
