Load test printing for 10000 users or VDI environments for desktop application
I'm trying to load test a printer driver which runs in Windows. There are also other executables which run in the Windows session which need to be tested as well. I'm looking to create or simulate either 10000 user RDP sessions or 10000 VDI desktops to be printing simultaneously. I' d like to have this in house if possibly, but I'm open to using a hosted service. Any ideas what tools or services I can use to create this?

a) Humans are chaotic instruments. Not only is it exceptionally rare that two people engage in the same action at the same time, but that 1000 people do this is even rarer
b) Printers are semaphore devices. Only one user will have access at any given time. To address this one never prints directly to a network attached printer, one prints to a queue which in turn feeds the printer one job at a time. So, to engage your test, you just copy a print job to a print queue
copy <print image file created by attaching a printer to a file output> \\computername\printer_queuename
Based upon human behavior involved, the odds that the test are "correct" are low and you need to ask yourself if in fact you are testing the printer driver or are you testing the queue manager which has been implemented in the code of the operating system that you can neither change nor likely have a path to submit a defect if you do find an issue with 1000 users all printing at the same time to the same queue
