So SmartBear came out with their free version of performance/load testing called WebLoadUI. It came up in my twitter feed, so why not take it for a ride. Wondering if anyone else has tried to play around with it and if they are running into any issues. For me, it is a resource hog. I usually have multiple applications running on my machine, from TestComplete, VS, SQL Management Studio, OnTime...you name it, it's running. 8gb of RAM coupled with an SSD, never have any issues running applications. When I start up WebLoadUI my system comes to a screeching halt. My CPU usage is at 100% and memory jumps up to 6 being used. I shut down the tool about 15 minutes ago and my CPU is still at 100%. Checked my processes and nothing related to the tool is currently showing up.
I have used their LoadComplete tool and never had any issues, but if we can get away with the free version that would be ideal.
The application is still young (just released in the past couple of days), so not sure how many people are using it. It would help to narrow down if this tool is just not compatible with my machine or if it is just the tool.
Running multiple applications at same time will consume lot of memory & process. Each application will have difference in consumption of memory & CPU. I think there is no issue with WebLoadUI tool.
Try to stop unwanted services / programs running on the system and then invoke WebLoadUI tool. One more point to consider is free version tool always have its limitations in one aspect or other when compared with licensed tools. Always choose tools which exactly matches all your requirements. Dont compromise for license cost and make end to end analysis for list of features available.
