I am new to loadrunner.
I am in process of researching on how to develop loadrunner strategy from scratch. Which includes planning ( SLA, I guess thats what they call it) ,script creation , scenario creation and results. The main part I am concerned about here is planning. What kind of questions are to be asked to busines and to development team. What are the parts that we need to be most concerned while in planning phase. How to evaluate our progress during all these planning and execution processes.
I understand that these are very broad questions but I just want to get different ideas and learn from the discussion and may be get a pointer or two (if anyone knows)where I can read more about performance planning.
You are in the midst of a specialized development and deployment model. From a development and reporting perspective it all begins with requirements.
As you are new, there is a defined path though training and mentoring for your first several engagements. If you choose not to follow the defined path of success you do so to your own and your organization's detriment. If your management feels they can simply toss you into this and you will be successful, then please direct them to this forum and we will be happy to educate them on the challenges associated with their decision.
Your questions are broad enough to require books to answer. Training and mentoring with a mature performance tester is the key.
And this really could (should?) be moved to the Performance & Load Testing forum as this really isn't about LoadRunner. It's more about the upfront planning which, based on the above discussion, has been tool-neutral. Besides, this could bring in a broader audience there.
Once it invokes LoadRunner from a technical standpoint, then maybe start another thread dealing with LR-specific questions/issues.
