Server Performance via Java Client
I have previously only ever generated web traffic for performance testing. I now have been tasked with the following and need some guidance on the approach. Thanks in advance and sorry for the lack of knowledge in this area:
Customer is interested in duplicating the load of n number of users to verify a new component on their server. Their software is a Java application that runs entirely on a client machine. The client can establish either a secure or standard TCP connection to the customer server.
I assume I need to create a Java test(s) that makes calls to the exposed methods (all on the client) duplicating existing functionality.
Eventually jar files and tests run from a load cannon. Sounds like a lot of duplicate effort. Am I missing something? A tool like JMeter suited best for this? They are only interested in server performance so is there a way of just duplicating connections and traffic like with maybe a TCP load?
