are there any tools that can support to test ActiveX, Plugins and Java application?
i'm newbie in Web testing performance
I've build Internet GIS application that need user to download the application to their local machine. Ive build the application using ACtiveX technologies in order to view in IE browser and using Netscape Plugins to use the application in Netscape Browser.
Thus in my research I would like to test the performance of both viewer and do some comparison. I need to test the performance in the context of user experience not a system metric in using the application such as zooming, panning , identify object and etc.
Therefore, are there any performance tools that can support such this type of testing application?

You could use a GUI testing tool such as WinRunner, QARun, QuickTest Pro if your only interested in the user experience. Note, you could look at a scripting language such as VBScript or Perl if your budget does not cover a commercial off the shelf tool.
If your also interesed in server side performance, then you should look at a load testing product such as LoadRunner, QALoad etc these measure responses times ofthe client conversation with your server.
These generally have the facility to run GUI scripts as part of a load test to measure the user experience.
