Load testing for non-web application
I'm new to load testing and need to find out more about a load testing tool for a non-web application. This application is client/server. Tests need to simulate telephone relay calls.
Re: Load testing for non-web application
Testing telephone switches are much more closely related to real-time performance testing than user-centric performance testing. The place they overlap is that the real-time tools generally don't work on the switches, but many of the user-centric ones do.
I'm assuming this is on a digital network and you need to generate calls to pass into the relay via TCP network. The challenge is capturing the traffic in the first place and then editing it (since I'm sure the major tools don't translate digitized voice to text) to play back. You'd have to edit based on packet size and distribution.
Without more detail, I'm not sure how much more I can help. I know someone who is doing something similar (who probably works for one of your competetors) that I'm sure would have some insights for you. If you are interested, email me and I'll ask him to join the forum.
