Has anyone done any load testing against IIS Web Server? We have a situation where we were load testing an application on Windows 2000 Server and were receiving 30 sec response times. We built another (similar) machine with Windows 2000 Advanced Server and received .5 sec response times.
Has anyone seen this result with Windows 2K vs Windows 2K Advanced before? I am having a hard time believing that the results could be so different just because of the OS. I am wondering if there is something else we are missing. We have gone through both machines and cannot find anything else that is different.
People might be saying anything about M$, but when they say that it is an "Advanced" Server, at least something must be advanced
As per my knowledge goes, advanced server is specifically designed to host the servers that belong to .NET framework. Servers like MS IIS 5.0, MS SQL 2k, MS BizTalk, MS Commerce Server, MS Sharpoint give a considerably better performance on 2kA that 2k. In fact, many of these server have a requiremnt that the OS must be 2kA.
2k server is more or less the next in the series for NT server, and is based on NT architecture, similar to 2k Professional descending from NT Workstation.
