I don't know HRMS 8.0, but I am currently testing PeopleSoft Financials 8.4. Are these close enough for experiences to be relevant? Financials 8.4 is all web based, so it sounds like probably not.

No need for addins at all.

We are just wrapping up a series of tests we did on PS HRMS 8. Like Scott said, it's all plain HTTP traffic. But you have to take care of a few things programmatically though (In our Rational tool anyway).

Once you login you'll retrieve a session id and you'll need this session id for further activities. So you'll need to parse out this id and put it in a variable and insert the variable in those spots that need it. (There are some more changes to the script you'll have to make but these are dependent on the activities you want to execute.)

Once that is done, it is a walk in the park. I actually found PS 8 and higher one of the easiest environments to work with. Impressed with the performance I was not.

    Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you are looking for exactly. I am just now finishing up a test strategy document for PS financials, but it's completely tool agnostic (and currently 56 pages long).

Segue has a good article on it's site about peoplesoft testing that is fairly tool agnostic. What kind of information do you need?

    Hi Barber and Roland,

Thanks for sharing the information. As I am preparing some documentation for the client where the the performance testing is useful. Is there information with you or any white paper available on Peoplesoft. Please do let me know. I need to submit the document to client by of the day. If anyone have any information it will be very much helpful.

    Thanks for sharing the information.

    thanks in advance,
    Ramesh

Re: Performance testing on Peoplesoft HRMS application (8.0)

Generating the load is not difficult. The hard part is making sure that the pages that are returned are not error pages. PS 8.x returns most pages with HTTP status less than 400 (which means no errors) even if there are errors (which are buried inside the HTML and JavaScript). Catching those is non-trivial.

    Valid point.

That is why we evaluate every page content during our load tests to see if there are any error messages in there.

Quite often systems return error messages in a page but your status code is still 200.

Re: Performance testing on Peoplesoft HRMS application (8.0)

Hi I am quite new to this forum. Recently I have the opportunity to work on Load Testing PeopleSoft using Rational. Besides the stuff I list below, is there any other nasty stuff to take note of?
    - Error message capturing and analysing
    - ICStateNum correlation
    - GZip compressions disabling

Hi Scott, any chance you will publish or present your strategy for testing PeopleSoft?
