HOW TO DETERMINE IF LOAD TESTING IS DATA TEST OR WEB TEST.
I will really appreciate it if someone can help me with this issue. I am in the process of testing an application, this application is a billing and invoice application, that was developed by my client but will be installed on client machine. We need to perform some scalability testing that will help us determine how long it takes to retrieve an invoice of varying lines, we need to know how much time it will take an invoice of 10, 20, 50 , 200 lines..... to be displayed to the user. My question here is this, is this going to be a web based test or a database test since the database will be using will MS SQL ? I will like your insight on the test strategy to take and maybe sample test case and test scripts.

First i am not quite sure whether your transaction results will be displayed as Web pages or as a UI screen (VB).If that's a web page ,You can simply record few transactions and run it .It will give you an idea about how much time taken for N to complete and display the transaction .
Since i never done DB testing Using silk performer , I am not able to help you much ...Sorry for that
