    Sharing parameters between virtual users

    Hi,

I need to have an ability to share parameters between virtual users in a load scneario i need to run. I would like to create one pool from which all vusers will get a unique login details for the application I am testing.

Aside from the regular parameter file LoadRunner or QALoad (for example) have, are you familiar with a more out of the box solution? If there is such a solution, which one would you recommend on and why?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Regards,

Re: Sharing parameters between virtual users

Depends on how much data you have and what is duration of test?
but yes confict does happen and atleast LoadRunner/SilkPerformer handles it better.I would prefer to go with builtin support which comes with the tool.

You could try the Virtual Table Server (VTS) that is usually used in conjunction with LoadRunner. I'm not sure if it could be used with another tool, but you could try it.

You could also have the Vusers read/write a dedicated database in order to share data.

I agree with Kiran. Unless you have lots of time to play with this, the risk is that you will either spend the time and still not get it to work or it will create resource conflicts or other inconsistancies that may influence the results of the test.

Most likely your time would be better used to design the test scenarios such that this is not necessary.

    My 2 cents.

Re: Sharing parameters between virtual users

We can have a Global Counter, say N. Increment that when a user comes in (ie. in starting transaction). Then use that valriable to fetch the N-th row from the data file (global/local-both will work).
