Load testing plan
I am involved in the testing of a newly developed messenger that is inter-operable with other messengers liked AOL,MSN,Yahoo etc.
Planning to do number of messages/second that it can handle.Does anybody has any idea of similar type of LOAD TEST PLAN.
YOur comments are mostly appreciated.

What exactly are you looking for? Load Testing would follow the same process as any other testing. First you would need to define a test strategy (i.e. what kind of load tests I am going to run) Then you would want to move into a test plan. A Load Test Plan has the common ingredients as a regular test plan. (Scope, Goals/Objectives, Risks, etc). Some of the other things you would want to concentrate on are: Environment Makeup Diagram (so you understand the components of your environment), Business Transaction breakdown (what transactions can this software do and what priority do they have in the user world), Roles and Responsibilities (who is going to do what and who will support what), Tool Identification (what are we using). Then hopefully from that information you would build an Execution Strategy. This will tell you the breakdown of the tests and when and where they will be run.
