I need to load to a customer Web-based application aboout 1500 acounts. Currently the account details are stored in Excel sheets.
what would you recommand to use as a loading tool, bare in mind that it takes appx. 5 to 10 minutes for one CSR to load 1 acount.
A question to consider before considering a toolset:
If each account takes 5-10 minutes to completely load, why would you complete performance testing? With that kind of response time, you are very likely to have issues if you place the system under stress...
Is this level of performance acceptable to your customers?
My interpretation of the original post in this thread is the following: talth1 needs to get 1500 accounts loaded into a database (presumably to facilitate other testing activities)...and not load testing with 1500 users.
Based on this interpretation, you might want to consult with your development team about ways to get data loaded into your database. It's something that my counterpart is working on...but for him, rather than loading 1500 accounts, it's a matter of 100K+ accounts...and bulk loading of the data is just a wee bit better than trying to automate the entry of all of those records.
Additionally, the time it takes a CSR to enter a record might be due to the sheer volume of inputs necessary to get the customer(s) set up...and not related to application response time. Think, for instance, of how much data might need to be entered into a customer service tool when first establishing that relationship.
But, if you are looking to load test your application with 1500 records (users?), then LoadRunner would be a viable option.
Bottom line: More information is required in order to give you a really concise answer.
