Re: Web Stress Tool
100 to 1000 users is not trivial in terms of concurrent access simulation, and your hardware (Client) needs will depend on how Dynamic (Cookies, URL rewriting, Parameter substitution for GETs PUTs etc.) your pages are.
Given the above qualification OpenSTA is what I would use. http://www.opensta.org
The tool is FREE but there is a learning curve as the product has it's own scripting language.
If you are looking for a full featured cheap and easy to use load testing tool, I havn't found one. If you find somthing better than OpenSTA (for FREE) then please let me know.
Web Stress Tool
Currently, I am using a free tool called Microsoft Web Application Stress (WAS), and it is not very user-friendly. It is difficult to find where the problem spots are in my recorded script. Are there any cheap or even free stress/load testing tools available. All I need to do is simulate between 100-1000 users, make sure the Processor on the web server doesn't peg out, and find a general estimate of how many users our browser-based application can handle...thanks for any comments.
